Salem State music faculty Fran Vielma presents a hands-on percussion workshop joined by percussionist Jeickov Vital: an experienced Afro-Venezuelan music researcher and educator; and drummer Daniel Prim: a dedicated performer that incorporates traditional styles from Venezuela into contemporary drum-set playing.

Fran Vielma, Jeickov Vital and Daniel Prim are part of an important cast of Venezuelan percussionists and researchers, dedicated for many years to the study of the Afro-Venezuelan music in the hand of cultists and traditional percussion experts. These outstanding performers will present a percussion demonstration that promises to bring onto the stage unique percussive languages and textures from one of the richest musical countries of South-America and the Caribbean.
